KEN JENNINGS: Confessions of a Trivial Mind
BLOG

February 4, 2009

Tuesday Trivia subscribers: I think my hosting company figured out what was up with their email, and the quiz finally went out last night. So this week it was Very Early Wednesday Trivia, I guess. Sorry for the delay. (If you’re not receiving for weekly email trivia quiz yet, sign up in the left-hand sidebar almost anywhere on this site. Here, for instance.)

Speaking of Wednesday, two questions. First, a little Will Shortz-ripoff wordplay question, as is our custom. Take two capitalized names–closely related to each other, and related to space. Move the first letter of each name backward in the alphabet one spot (i.e., turn “berate” into “aerate” or “mitigate” into “litigate.”) You’ll get two capitalized names–but this time of related characters, in a movie about space.

The second question is from a reader, one Mike Dey. I thought it was a pretty great discovery. Mike asks: the five top-billed actors from what classic 1980s comedy currently have big roles in TV series? I wonder if the answer’s unique. Can you suggest other movies whose casts are chock full o’ current TV stars?

Edited to add: Answers, and more TV-star-filled movies, here.
