It’s Brainiac day! I’m in bookstores now. Tell your friends. If I weren’t so sleepy I’d be very excited.
If you saw The Today Show, you saw that the segment was pretty short and I didn’t really get to say anything very interesting about Brainiac. (Ann Curry instead seemed oddly interested in my childhood quest to learn all the nations of the world in alphabetical order, and in how one would do on Jeopardy! if one were, shall we say, lightly toasted.) But I’ve been doing other radio interviews all morning and have been able to chat for longer and more substantively about the book, which is fun. This USA Today piece doesn’t have much to say about Brainiac either, but at least it has me using the phrase “coke and hookers” in the third graf, which is always a plus.
And Patty from Random House just called to say that a major newsweekly will be reviewing Brainiac next week, mostly because the reviewer she spoke to finds me, quote, weirdly fascinating. That’s great news. Usually I get “fascinatingly weird.”
Speaking of weird and bookstores, I saw Jon Lovitz at the Time Warner building Borders last night. Not quite as exciting as seeing your own book in a bookstore (they didn’t have them out yet), but pretty close.
(PS to Jon Lovitz’s lawyers: he was actually in the checkout line, not Erotica.)
