Almost six months ago, I listed some of my favorite movies that were, inexplicably, unavailable on DVD in this country.
A quick update, since there’s been quite a bit of progress lately:
The Prisoner of Zenda: due in March, though you get the lousy Stewart Granger remake as well.
The Sundowners: coming next month.
The Butcher Boy: due in February. So far, Warner Home Video is 3-for-3.
Hail the Conquering Hero: out now, as part of an unmissable Preston Sturges box set.
The Conformist: also on sale now, as is (almost as amazingly) 1900.
The Double Life of Veronique. On sale now. Hooray for Criterion!
Six out of twenty ain’t bad…
