Because I’m still on vacation in Hawaii, Wordplay Wednesday today is full of the fabled “aloha spirit.” Why, you may ask, is Wordplay Wednesday being posted so late in the day that it’s already Thursday in much of the country? Because here we’re on island time, and everything starts a little later. No one’s in a hurry here brah! Except for the ahole–oops, haole, I mistyped–in the Chevy Malibu who was tailgating me on a narrow mountain road today. Maybe he was a tourist.

So here’s the question: the Hawaiian alphabet has many fewer letters than the English alphabet. But through a strange coincidence, exactly half the English letters that are also in the Hawaiian alphabet happen to be consecutive letters of the English alphabet!

What are they?
