Greetings from beautiful Stockholm, a part of the world apparently run by giant, intelligent squirrels. I can’t believe this wasn’t mentioned in those dragon tattoo books.
The kids, as shown above, are being real troopers about the trip–super troupers, as they say in Sweden. Tomorrow we leave for the Åland Islands, an interesting spot for mapheads. The archipelago is Finnish territory, but is culturally Swedish–and because of that culture clash, it’s a weird, semi-autonomous part of Finland that acts in many ways like an independent country, with its own stamps and flag and police force and so forth.
I don’t think we’ll have time to make it to this little island, sadly. Maybe next time.
