Songs that mention specific intersections (TT Jan 24th)

The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

Songs that mention specific intersections (TT Jan 24th)

Regarding Question 7 from Tuesday Trivia on January 24th:

This one is probably better known in my home country of Canada than here in the United States, but "Prairie Town" by Randy Bachman mentions the intersection of Portage and Main (a famous intersection in Winnipeg.)

There's a song about a certain swingin' town I know where they mention 4th Street and D.

E. 1999 Eternal by Bone Thugs is one of the best rap albums of all time.

The song East 1999 has this lyric:

Putting my serve down on the Clair 9-9

Which is a reference to the street corner of East 99th and St. Clair Ave in Cleveland.

About the album title itself, Wikipedia says:

The album title is a portmanteau of the then-future year 1999 and Cleveland's eastside neighborhood centering on East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue where the group is based.

Barenaked Ladies' first major-label single was "Jane", about a woman named "Jane St Clair". In Toronto at the time the corner of Jane and St Clair was the location of the city's slaughterhouse.

Ha, I almost used the Randy Bachman song but was worried that no non-Canadian has ever heard of it.

Ed Toutant suggested "Dead Man's Curve" by Jan and Dean ("Sunset and Vine"). Vine is certainly the go-to cross street in the American songbook...

I got the gist of this question quickly... from Candyman... Hollywood and Vine... but I laughed when I read My Own Way... Duran Duran... because I think the lyrics are "I'm on 45th between Sixth and Broadway." And my first thought was.... that's not a street corner, so does it fit? Meaning... is the answer that the songs all reference street corners or intersections or is it just two streets in each song? And then I realized that I'm a middle aged man who got a trivia question right because I know the lyrics to a Christina Aguilera song, and that made me cringe.

I didn't see the original list, but perhaps it included "Love Potion No. 9" by the Clovers.

From the Ramone's eponymous album:

"53rd and 3rd, I'm tryin' to turn a trick.
53rd and 3rd, you're the one they never pick".
