Pic Tac Toe Snow

I might do a series of these with holiday cartoons at the center square. I already did Yukon Cornelius and the Bumble. Please enjoy.

I feel confident about 5 of these.

Spoiler: show
Top Row: MUSIC BIOPICS
Middle Row: COB(B) (Ty Cobb, corncob pipe, Cobb salad)
Bottom Row: TRAINS

Left Column: TOMMY LEE JONES MOVIES
Middle Column: ???
Right Column: FIRST TWO SYLLABLES SOUND LIKE COLUMBUS' FLEET? (Nina, Pinterest, Santa Fe)

159 Diagonal: COAL
357 Diagonal: CYLINDRICAL OBJECTS?

(Originally I thought the 6th image was a fajita salad, which made me think the Middle Row theme was TYPES OF SALADS. That actually works, if you use Urban Dictionary and want to permanently scar your brain. Just... don't.)

Hey-o. Good stuff. I was worried about the specificity of the right column, but you got it exactly...

The 357 Diagonal is... tricky. Especially the way Frosty fits in. Bit of a stretch.

(Although "cylinders" is technically true, that's not what I had in mind.)

The middle column is very specific.

As a sidenote: it seems very unusual to me that Tommy Lee Jones won an academy award for an action-movie-based-on-a-tv-show like The Fugitive... but damn if he isn't great in that movie. Does anyone feel strongly here? Do we all agree U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard was totally bad ass?

Other nominees were:
Leonardo DiCaprio – What's Eating Gilbert Grape as Arnie Grape
Ralph Fiennes – Schindler's List as Amon Goeth
John Malkovich – In the Line of Fire as Mitch Leary
Pete Postlethwaite – In the Name of the Father as Giuseppe Conlon

You weren't kidding about that middle column! Really impressive.

Spoiler: show
Middle Column: PAST AND PRESENT WENDY'S MENU ITEMS (Biggie sizing, Frosty, Double Stack)

Yes, exactly. Past and present.

One more hint:

The last diagonal would be less of a stretch if the kids who made Frosty had been doctors or makeup artists.

357 Diagonal: NOT DARK ENOUGH?

I know that Zoe Saldana was a controversial casting choice, and ended up darkening her skin with makeup to play Nina Simone. Your hint reminded me that in The Fugitive, Dr. Richard Kimble darkened his hair to pose as a hospital janitor to gain access to a patient database (though none of that is depicted in the image provided). Then I watched the beginning of Frosty the Snowman on YouTube. The kids make a standard snowman. I'm not seeing the connection.

You're on the right track with the Zoe Saldana controversy.

For the 357 diagonal, I was thinking: prosthetics.

The one armed man and his prosthetic arm.

Zoe's makeup prosthetics (her nose).

And Frosty's button nose.

That theme totally works, even for Frosty. I didn't know Zoe Saldana wore a prosthetic nose.

I wondered if the One-Armed Man was relevant but failed to think it through. Instead of assuming "that image was used because of the train theme," I should have asked, "Why not use an image of the actual locomotive earlier in the film?"
