involuntary Logging Out?

Postby Paucle » Wed May 09, 2007 1:17 am

Anyone else ever get logged out just out of the blue? Happens to me all the time.

Situation: At times when I know I am logged in as "Paucle," I'll be perusing the boards, go to add a reply, and get denied as I'm not logged in.
Log in, it lasts a board or two, but sometime during navigation, the log in loses "lock" and suddenly and I'm not logged in anymore.

I just went to edit one of my posts on another board, and had to log in 3 times to do it. I'd log in and would even get to my post and click the edit button, and be told I could only edit my own posts. Look up and sure enough, "Log in" would be the last 2 words again.

I did nothing different the 3rd time, either. It just finally "stuck."

I knew I left something off from the original post!

I get here via (cue ominous music/ energize groan shields) AOL.

Not to be too kneejerk here but, uh, that's probably your problem right there.

Possibly, but it only started recently. Wonder how ranjolie gets here?

AOL broadband or AOL dial-up? Broadband seems to have far more issues than dial-up.

I'm broadband, but have been since 2000, and like I said these issues just started. : /
We're still waiting back to hear from ranjolie on access?

The documentation over at phpBB seems to at least acknowledge that this is a common issue with AOL users.

If you are experiencing problems related to this you can set the Session IP validation parameter found in Admin->General->Server Configuration->Security Settings to A.B.

Apparently the delivered phpBB code validates based on the first three octets, which may be too specific for AOL's carnival of ever-changing IPs.

Thanks, gvonk- with "Admin" being the first step, I assume that's beyond my scope of adjusting.

I suspected it was an AOL thing to begin with.
