The second list there includes the only states with the same number of letters as their capitals.

Here's (I think) a toughie:

What do these 7 states (and no others) have in common:

Arizona, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, West Virginia, Wyoming

Just for completeness' sake, the answer is: these are the only states with no Lt Governor

Finishing up from before.
Here's a new one. What do the following 13 states have in common?
Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Vermont.

Answer: None of these states contain a school that has made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament.

They all starred (or co-starred) someone who was ordained clergy: respectively, Hugh Beaumont, Fred Rogers (the giveaway), Clifton Davis, Jackie Mason, and Della Reese. No Google. Smile

Wow, nice question. I had no idea about Hugh Beaumont.

You are 100% correct.

What do Michael Gross, Kyle MacLachlan , Kyra Sedgewick and John Ratzenberger all have in common? It has nothing to do with degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Probably not what you're looking for, but they all won league MVP awards.

That's half of it. They all won something else, too.

I think they've all won the Silver Slugger award, too.

They have all won that award, but that's not it. This list has everyone on it that meets the two criteria (one of which is a league MVP award), while Justin Morneau, for example, won a Silver Slugger and a league MVP award, but is not on the list.

They've all won the All-Star Game Home Run Derby. But Ken Griffey, Jr. is missing from the list.

You're right, they've all won the Derby and the MVP. I must've skipped Jr.'s link on the HR Derby page, as I started at the bottom of the list, while only the top name has a link on it.

My bad.

What common bond unites all of these people?

Steve Allen, James Brown, Johnny Carson, Bob Denver, Stephen Jay Gould, George Harrison, Bob Hope, George Plimpton, Tito Puente, Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Johnny Unitas, Barry White

(I won't claim this list is comprehensive, but this definitely includes most of the available candidates.)

No, I think there's a lot more. Linda McCartney, Jack Lemmon, and Lawrence Tierney, off the top of my head.

People who did guest voices in The Simpsons who are now dead?

Edit:

I was thinking Rodney Dangerfield also but maybe the answer is specific to people who played themselves, which would mean only Linda McCartney would be added. How about John Entwistle?

That's it, so McCartney and Entwistle should definitely be in. (The list for all now-deceased Simpsons guest stars is a lot longer -- it would include Phil Hartman and Johnny Cash, off the top of my head.)

And now Vladimir Guerrero can be added as well. Congratulations to Vlad the Impaler, 2004 American League MVP and 2007 Home Run Derby Champion!

He hit some pretty big homeruns, including a 503 foot dinger.

Funny. I was rooting for Howard in the first round. He hit the least of anyone in that round.

I then cheered for Holliday. He hit the least of anyone in that round.

I then picked Rios to win it all. He hit the least of anyone in that round.

Sorry, but Mizzou (The University of Missouri) has been to the Final Four several times (and I think they won it all at least once).

My guess is that thay are the only states without an NBA team. Oops! I miscounted the number of states represented in the NBA! Confused

I went off Wikipedia, which says that Missouri has had 21 appearances in the tournament without a Final Four appearance, second only to BYU (22). Again I was restricting it to the Men's Division I tournament because I'm sexist and elitist like that. Wink
