I just set my TiVo to record Ken's appearance on the Today show, September 12th! Does anyone know of other TV appearances? I have "Ken Jennings" in my TiVo wishlist, so I hope that catches them all.

You should watch for the evenings of September 11-15 if NBC is going to run 1vs100 then...

Ken, that's not a very good day for you to be on TV: according to one semi-reliable source, it's the day that Armageddon begins (but then that's the same source who predicted the same for October 14, 2000).

And, later in the day, Apple's going to have a big announcement (so you'll definitely be "kicked off the front page" of all the nerd blogs).

Yes, I record the Colbert Report everyday anyways. It hasn't shown up in my TiVo wishlist yet though, because the program info doesn't always show who the guest is. I also haven't been able to find 1 vs. 100...any word on when that will be airing?

They might be holding that for fall sweeps - I'll post back here after some inquiries to see if there is more info available.

Maybe change the subject of this thread to "Ken in the Media"? And maybe even make it a sticky?

As for myself, Ken, I'd like to know for which Atlanta radio station you taped that interview, referenced in your 8/30 blog post War on Christmas!. If you even keep track of that kind of thing. My guess would be 99x or maybe Q100.

Hi all,
I've been meaning to dive in for a while, but, you know.. another login, another password.. can't keep up with the 15 million I have now.

But now! You brought me out of lurk. TV appearances! Whee! (I'm not really 12, actually 47, but I do act 12)

Anyway, my DVR refuses to catch Ken or anyone else on talk shows. Even when he's listed. Weird mythtv glitch.
So -- thanks for the leads. I have now programmed for Today, but I have a question about the Colbert (Ken was listed in TVBarn's talk show listings there; they don't cover morning shows..) -- it's on several times a day, as the Daily Show has been: which is the official first airing of the "day"?

The Colbert Report "new" episode airs daily at 11:30pm, then reruns throughout the next day.

Okay, so the only TV appearances I have on my TiVo are:
Tuesday, September 12th - 7:00am - The Today Show - NBC
Wednesday, September 13th - 7:00am - The Early Show - CBS
Wednesday, September 13th - 11:30pm - The Colbert Report - Comedy Central

Are there any others that I should know about?

I think The Early Show is actually Wednesday, isn't it?

I've been asked not to blog about all the TV in advance, but there are a few more later in the week. I'll give 24 hours notice in this thread if people don't spot them elsewhere.

Just saw your interview on the Today Show. As chair emeritus of the Books for Kids Foundation ( www.booksforkidsfoundation.org ), I was impressed with your discussion of the importance of books as a child.

Ken, if you are around Wednesday evening in NYC, please join BFK at the Junior Committee event. 6 pm Proof Bar, 239 3rd Ave at 20th Street. The event will help put books into the hands of kids who normally would not have the opportunity to own their own book.

Can't wait to read your book!

Is there some elusive logic in doing promotional appearances but being careful not to tell anyone about them? Perhaps if we knew how many of them there would be, we wouldn't think of each one as being so special?

I thought your Today guest spot was fine. Too bad you weren't on with Meredith, so you could discuss J! vs. her version of WWTBAM.

Will you be on Live With Regis and Kelly? If so, tell Regis I said howdy!

Ken, saw you today on the Today show! You were great, and looked nice. I kept hoping Ann would ask you more questions about your book though! I thought it was kind of weird for her to bring up the pot smoking guy. Oh well, you did great. I CAN'T WAIT for your Colbert Report interview tomorrow. I am a HUGE FAN of Stephen Colbert (and of you also!)

My TiVo hasn't caught any more TV appearances, so I'll have to keep looking.

I just saw you on the Early Show. Great interview! I think it's hilarious how everybody thinks that you ACTUALLY know EVERYTHING! (I mean, you do know almost everything, but still.) It was kind of crazy how the weatherman got so excited about knowing the answer to your question!
