The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

Puzzle, Mon Feb 20 blog entry

Postby skullturfq » Mon Feb 20, 2012 12:01 pm

EDIT: It occurred to me that it would be polite to include a direct link to the puzzle.

I had to do some Google sleuthing, but I think I understand the theme now.

I can't think of another TV show to add, but I can add a movie to the list, I think:

EDIT #2: The "Mr. Fox" part of my title is irrelevant. (I think I probably have the right general theme, but maybe I'm wrong in the specifics somehow.)

Oh, Ken, you geek. I got it. Not sure the two above fit, but I'll see what I can come up.

How's these?
(Of course, you may need to add dots between each letter of the first two.)

The TV shows share their names with unrelated superhero teams: The Outsiders, The Defenders, The Champions, The Invaders, X Factor & The Avengers.

This one would be the newest member of the group, since it hasn't even premiered yet.

I think skullturfq's entry is a bit off the mark, but has the right idea. Dobie's is a valid entry, though the matching member in the other set is obscure (as is mine).

That's assuming that the other set isn't further qualified by company. I'd be able to figure that out if I could ID Ken's photos #1, #3, and #4. I had pretty much figured out what the set was going to be just from photo #2, and figured at that point #6 would be there somewhere.

At least it's the same name, but a different show.

OK, I figured that would probably happen. I couldn't identify 2, 3, or 4 (and I still don't exactly see how 5 works).

EDIT: In retrospect I should have recognized Robert Reed

Marpocky: Maybe THIS will help, about 1/3rd down.

And by the way...
... all the titles are in invisible text in my first comment.

I thought Randy Jackson was looking rather svelte! That's because he's L.A. Reid.

Ah, I'd obviously missed the hidden text in that case.

While I was searching for Ken's #3 (looking in the wrong place), I stumbled upon these two shows with matching names that fit the category (again, a more obscure comic).

Answer in white text below, highlight to read...

These are all TV shows who share their names with superhero teams (or, less specifically, with comic books). The shows are The Outsiders, The Defenders, The Champions, The Invaders, The X-Factor, and The Avengers.

And the three I added were:

LE.G.I.O.N., SHIELD, Power Pack.

My picture was meant to suggest The Fantastic Four, although I admit it was pretty imprecise of me because the only connection is the word "Fantastic".

I think I got confused because somehow I thought that The X-Factor represented The X-Men somehow, as opposed to a different superhero team whose name coincides exactly with the TV show's title.
