Is it true that a closed loop path in a continuous vector field produces no net work? Because I've been repeating that like a mantra since sophomore year of college and, like all youthful expressions, it's starting to seem bizarre and meaningless to me.

Not a continuous vector field, but a conservative one.

I imagine it's called conservative because it's a "No Spin Zone."
