The Unauthorized Jennings!/Jeopardy! Quiz

Postby WendellWit » Sat Jul 29, 2006 10:15 am

I'm really not trying to draw attention to myself (some call it self-promotion, I call it serving as an example of what NOT to do), but during Ken's Jeopardy! run, I had the opportunity to 'write' a quiz about it for MSNBC.com

"Let's Play Jennings Jeopardy!"

Note: The only thing in the quiz I didn't write was in the title graphic. In fact, I offered them an alternate image that my editor couldn't use without alienating the whole graphics department. I'm glad to finally have a place to show it...

Note 2: I had actually forgotten I'd written it when I made my earlier comment in the BLOG REARDING JEOPARDY thread. It was the only openly humorous thing I've done for that site that they did NOT slap a "PARODY" tag onto. Probably because the jokes were in the incorrect answers -er, questions. For anybody who doesn't want to have to take the quiz to see the correct answers -er questions: "SPOILER"

And Ken, I am seriously considering pitching them a quick story about the whole mess. Being more a comedian than journalist, I can guarantee it would be accurate. But I can't contact the editors until Monday Morning, and you've already been pushed off the front page by Mel Gibson's DUI, so I don't know if they'll be interested. However, if there's anything you'd like to say that isn't already here on your site, please email me.

I'm ashamed to say I only got 14 of the 17 correct. I hope Ken doesn't banish me from the boards.

I have always fantasized about getting on Jeopardy! and betting it all in FJ, even if I had the game locked up. Oh, and I've always admired Cliff Claven (and Newman).

THAT belongs in the Iconoclasm thread. Oh, and if you ever happen to mention that to the TV writers who created the characters, do NOT be surprised if they run away from you as fast as they can. (Personal experience)

I have been called Cliff Claven, by a colleague, spontaneously and without premeditation.

82%, by the way -- better than I've managed on the Tuesday Trivia quiz so far.
