The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

I got 111 points. I am filled with shame.

I squeaked by you on the last question to end with a 129. All but one of my guesses was just that -- a guess.

I was disappointed with my 351. I missed three and made a few lucky guesses. I took it as soon as it was posted on Friday. If I had waited a few days, I think I would have heard some of the answers while watching the Olympics, like where the medals are kept. Of course, that wasn't an option for the editor who agreed to take it first and provided the benchmark score.

The scores reported above, 111 and 129, average 120, which is about what you'd expect with twelve random guesses, and getting three right.

This week's quiz is admittedly a lot different. Slate wanted an Olympics quiz and, for better or for worse, that means lots of NBC-ready anecdotes and trivia, and much less Actual Important Affairs Of The Day. I'm not surprised that scores are much lower...there are lots of those stories that I wasn't following either.

Next week: back to the news.

Not a Special Olympic-themed contest though. One capital letter can make all the difference.

Not quite all the difference, you'd also want to make that hyphen an n-dash in that case. Just one of those obscure typesetting rules that you can't help watching for once it's pointed out to you.
In a way all of us have an El Guapo to face someday.

357! I smoked the Slate dude this week. I had at least one lucky guess, but the questions go by so fast it's hard to remember which ones I got wrong. I think I got two wrong.

307. Missed 5. Looks like I must have been pretty quick on the others.

Barely broke 200. Luckily, NBC didn't air the tape of my performance for six hours, giving me time to flee to another state and change my name.

My score fell below the threshold of random guessing, and so the exact number is not statistically significant.

But I suppose the author deserves a hat tip for coming up with plausible distractors, and/or finding implausible facts.
